UK weather maps show the exact date a 20C mini heatwave will hit with three areas hottest. Forecasters at WX Charts say the mercury will soar above 20C next weekend with Bristol, West Sussex and Hampshire seeing the best of the weather on May 11.

WX Charts uses Met Desk data for its projections, which are published daily. Given its verdict from May 4 to May 12, the BBC Weather team says it will be "warmer" generally across the country, saying: "On Tuesday, high pressure could build further across the UK, bringing calmer and drier conditions, although still with a risk of some showers.

"Wednesday may still be changeable in eastern and south-eastern regions, and if high pressure shifts east of Scotland there will be a chance of wet and windy conditions in Northern Ireland and western Scotland through midweek.

"Temperatures are likely to rise slightly on Thursday, and from Friday to Sunday, high pressure could shift more towards western Europe, with warmer south-east or southerly flows developing. It could rise well above 20C in England and Wales."

The BBC goes on to state: "But this pattern could make it even wetter and windier in north-western and western areas of the UK. On Sunday, approaching low-pressure systems could bringing cooler and windier conditions more widely."

It adds: "We will see which trend continues in late May and at the beginning of June, and whether more settled conditions could manage to win out." Netweather TV adds: "High pressure looks to build back north on Friday, ensuring a mostly fine, warm and dry day, but it may not be wall-to-wall sunshine for many, with cloud tending to build in filling the skies, which could produce the odd shower.

"High pressure looks to hang on next weekend across the east, bringing more warm sunshine and mostly dry conditions for many, but perhaps an increasing risk of thundery showers across the southwest and far west by the end of weekend."
